Ph.D. Research

Welcome

Miss Dawn Wood BSc.(hons)

Based at the University of Hull, Scarborough Campus, I am currently undertaking a PhD in Computer Science. Having completed three and a half years of research I am finally in the write up stage and have about three months to go.

They say that a PhD is one of the most challenging, but satisfying things you will ever do. To which I`m inclined to agree. There are many ups and downs, and some days you do ask yourself why you have undertaken, what may seam such an insurmountable task. With each new challenge, you gain a little bit more knowledge and strength to continue, and as you look back you often wonder why things seemed so difficult at the time. A PhD is as much, if not more so, about your metamorphosis as it is about your research. It really opens your mind, and extends your abilities in all directions.

I have put this site together for two reasons. Firstly as an extended C.V. as I am currently looking for a challenging research position, preferably multidisciplinary across Computer Science, Education and Psychology. I am particularly interested in adult learning, and the application of personality as a means of profiling within educational systems. The second reason is to give interested persons an some insight into what my research is about., and some of the processes that have been undertaken to achieve its current state.

All that said I hope you find something of interest, and possibly something of use. Questions and comments are most welcome via email.
